Black and grey is the Bewitched signature. Built from a single black ink diluted into a full range of greys, the style produces some of the most dramatic and timeless tattoo work being made today — and is what brings most of our clients in the door.
Despite the name, black and grey tattoos use only black ink. Greys are created by diluting black at varying strengths during application. This is a technically demanding style — the artist must read shading values in real time, working with translucent washes that behave very differently from solid color.
Black and grey ages exceptionally well. Without color pigments to fade, the work retains its contrast and detail for decades. For collectors in Sussex County who want serious, lasting work, it's almost always our first recommendation.
